ISLAMABAD: The Overseas Pakistanis Commission (OPC) Punjab has helped a UK-based Pakistani get his money back.
Commissioner OPC Afzal Bhatti said that Yasir Arafat had fi
led a complaint with the OPC that he had given Rs 6.6 million to Bashir Ahmed for establishing a textile unit in Sahiwal
However, Bashir Ahmed had fraudulently shown a loss of Rs 5 million to the
complainant. Later on, Ba
shir had given five diff
erent cheques to Yasir Arafat which were subsequen
tly dishonored. The
complainant had also alleged that despite the registration of an FIR, local police had been reluctant to arrest Bashir Ahmed.
The commissioner said that after lodging a formal
complaint, the OPC pursued the case vigorously and ensured the repayment of the entire sum Arafat.
